Consultant Health and Work Psychologist
Barbara Wren is a Chartered Psychologist and an organisational consultant with 20 years experience of developing interventions to improve individual, team and organisational effectiveness in healthcare settings. For the past 12 years she has worked in a London teaching hospital developing in – house psychology services for NHS staff.
The service provides therapy, coaching and consultancy and team development interventions. She also set up and managed the Trust mediation service and has led on the successful piloting of Schwartz Rounds at the Royal Free – an organisational wide reflective group for all hospital staff to discuss the emotional impact of healthcare. Prior to this she developed and rolled out Brief Interventions Skills Training for the Irish Health Boards.
She is a founder member and Chair of the UK National Network of Practitioner Occupational Health Psychologists. She is an Associate of the Kings Fund and the Staff Experience Consultant on the Kings Fund Point of Care faculty for the Patient and Family Centred Improvement Programme and supports new sites implementing Schwartz Rounds.
Barbara has worked nationally and internationally to develop theory and practice to improve staff experience in healthcare settings. She brings a wealth of experience to BCT, offering a range of bespoke courses to support practitioner and service development.
