Matt Brown | Clinical Psychologist

Matt is a consultant clinical psychologist and fully accredited in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) by the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies). He is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Since gaining his doctorate in clinical psychology at UCL in 2009, Matt has work in range of mental health and physical health settings with adolescents, adults and older adults. He is currently employed as the clinical lead for the Oncology Psychology Service at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he provides psychological assessment and interventions to people with cancer, in addition to psychological skills training and specialist supervision to other health professionals involved in UCLH cancer services. He draws on a range of evidence-based psychological models throughout his work, with a particular interest in behavioural change interventions. Since joining BCT in 2021 he has enjoyed bringing his enthusiasm for CBT to the part 3 training course.

Patient Centred Communication

A 2-day workshop presented to healthcare professionals, which will focus on the communication skills essential for effective conversations about health. These role-play workshops, supported by video playback, provide the opportunity for individual feedback to enhance development.

Behaviour Change Skills Part 2

Influencing Motivation

This training aims to enhance current practice, by exploring ways of building and strengthening motivation to change and maintaining that motivation throughout the change process. Motivational Interviewing (MI) has been used successfully in a wide range of health behaviours.

Behaviour Change Skills Part 3

Cognitive Behavioural Approaches

This course builds on Behaviour Change Skills Part 1 and 2 and is aimed to enhance your clinical effectiveness by learning to integrate some of the basic CBT techniques into everyday practice. It is a skills-based programme which is supported by a comprehensive 1 day pre-course.
